GTEC directs Bolgatanga Technical University Vice Chancellor to resume duty
The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has directed the Vice Chancellor of Bolgatanga Technical University to resume work with immediate effect.
In a letter dated May 4, 2026, and signed by the Director-General of GTEC, Prof. Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, the Commission instructed the Vice Chancellor to return to office while investigations into alleged procurement breaches continue.
The directive follows earlier communications from the university’s Governing Council Chairman dated December 12, 2025, January 22, 2026, and February 16, 2026. Those letters directed the Vice Chancellor to proceed on accumulated leave and later suspended him from office pending investigations into alleged breaches of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663), as amended, and the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).
According to GTEC, the latest directive overrides all previous communications relating to the matter.
“The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission directs you to resume work as the Vice Chancellor of Bolgatanga Technical University with immediate effect, while the investigations into the alleged breaches of procurement continue,” the letter stated.
The Commission also assured the Vice Chancellor that steps would be taken to address any remaining issues at the university in due course.
The letter further called for his cooperation as the matter continues to be addressed.
