Minority sends goodwill message to 2026 BECE candidates
The Minority Caucus Committee on Education in Parliament has extended goodwill to candidates writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), urging them to remain confident as they undertake the national test.
In a message issued by the committee, members of the New Patriotic Party described the examination as a significant milestone for thousands of students across the country and commended candidates for their dedication and perseverance.
The caucus noted that the candidates’ journey—marked by years of study, preparation, and determination—has brought them to an important stage in their academic lives, encouraging them to approach each paper with confidence.
The statement also acknowledged the contributions of parents, teachers, and guardians, highlighting their role in supporting students throughout their educational journey.
With more than 620,000 candidates participating in the 2026 BECE, the committee emphasised the importance of the examination as a key pathway to senior high school education.
It further pointed to opportunities available under government initiatives such as the Free SHS and Free Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes, which aim to expand access to secondary education.
The caucus advised candidates to remain disciplined, manage their time effectively, and stay focused throughout the examination period.
It also reaffirmed its support for students nationwide, expressing confidence in their ability to succeed and contribute to the country’s future development.
