The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced strict resignation timelines for government appointees intending to contest in its upcoming internal elections.

According to the party’s Acting Director of Elections and IT, Mahdi Jibril, appointees seeking to contest at the constituency level must resign from their positions by April 30. Those aspiring to regional positions have until May 14 to step down, while candidates targeting national executive roles must resign by June 7.

He disclosed this during an interview on The Citizen Show hosted by Nana Out Darko on Accra FM. Notably, Nana Out Darko is also contesting for the position of National Deputy Communications Officer of the NDC.

He noted that, the directives form part of the NDC’s efforts to ensure transparency, fairness, and adherence to internal democratic processes as the party prepares for its nationwide internal elections.

Touching on eligibility criteria for the branch elections, Mahdi Jibril emphasized that only duly registered members of the party can contest. He explained that aspirants must be recognized voters within their respective branches and must have paid their party dues in full to qualify.
