Nhyiaeso MP calls for sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem to tackle youth unemployment
The Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Dr. Stephen Amoah, has called for the creation of a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem to complement existing job opportunities in Ghana.
While government and the private sector continue to provide employment, the legislator reckons that these efforts alone are not enough to absorb the growing number of young people entering the job market.
His call comes in the wake of growing concerns about youth unemployment and underemployment across the country.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, Dr. Amoah stressed the need for deliberate policies that support entrepreneurship, innovation, and small business growth, particularly among the youth.
He said Ghana must move beyond an overreliance on formal salaried jobs and instead empower citizens with the skills, financing, and institutional support needed to build and scale their own businesses.
Dr. Amoah emphasized that a well-structured entrepreneurial ecosystem—made up of access to capital, mentorship, training, and enabling regulations—will not only reduce unemployment but also drive long-term economic growth.
The Nhyiaeso MP further urged government agencies, financial institutions, and educational bodies to work together to nurture start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises, describing them as the backbone of a resilient economy.
He noted that creating sustainable entrepreneurship opportunities will help reduce poverty, promote innovation, and make Ghana’s economy more competitive in the global market.
