Several high-profile criminal cases linked to the government’s Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative are scheduled to continue this week in various courts across Accra.

The cases, which involve allegations ranging from illegal mining to procurement and cybersecurity scandals, are expected to see key prosecution witnesses subjected to cross-examination as proceedings intensify.

On Monday, May 11, proceedings in the Skytrain case, Republic v Asamoah & Another, are scheduled to continue at Criminal Court 4, where the third prosecution witness is expected to undergo cross-examination.

Later the same morning, Criminal Court 1 is expected to hear the case of Republic v Akonta Mining & 3 Others, involving alleged illegal mining activities in the Nimiri Forest Reserve.

The first prosecution witness is expected to continue testimony under cross-examination.

On Tuesday, May 12, the Specialised Court 1 will resume hearing in the cybersecurity software scandal case involving Republic v Kwabena Adu Boahene & 2 Others.

The third prosecution witness is expected to continue cross-examination.

The Skytrain case is also scheduled to continue later that day at Criminal Court 4.

Court proceedings will continue on Wednesday, May 13, with the illegal mining case involving Akonta Mining owned by New Patriotic Party Ashanti Regional chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako returning before Criminal Court 1 for further cross-examination of the prosecution’s first witness.

The cybersecurity software scandal case is also expected to continue at the Specialised Court with further cross-examination of the prosecution witness.

On Thursday, May 14, the Specialised Court will again hear the cybersecurity software case as proceedings continue.

Later in the day, Criminal Court 4 is expected to hold a Case Management Conference for the defense in the Samreboi illegal mining case involving Republic v Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, and two others.

The ORAL initiative forms part of broader government efforts aimed at investigating and prosecuting alleged corruption, financial misconduct and illegal exploitation of natural resources.
