Omanbapa Deftech Ltd donates GH¢100,000 towards Ghana Armed Forces housing project
Omanbapa Deftech Limited has donated GH¢100,000 to support the Ghana Armed Forces’ Defence Housing Development Project aimed at providing safe, modern and environmentally friendly accommodation for military personnel.
Presenting the donation at Burma Camp, Chief Executive Officer of the company, Bernard Oduro Takyi, said the gesture was inspired by the vision of the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) to improve accommodation for personnel who dedicate their lives to protecting the country.
According to him, the Armed Forces require more than equipment and logistics to effectively defend the state, stressing that decent accommodation is equally important to the welfare of military personnel.
Mr. Oduro Takyi said the company had been following the Ghana Armed Forces on social media and was impressed by the architectural designs and innovative smart housing projects being undertaken to modernise existing infrastructure.
“The buildings are very beautiful, very environmentally friendly. Smart housing is the way to go. It shows great leadership from the Armed Forces,” he said.
He called on private sector players and corporate Ghana to support the military’s housing development agenda, citing the role of private businesses in supporting military accommodation projects in parts of Asia.
Mr. Oduro Takyi assured the Armed Forces that the donation would not be the company’s last contribution, expressing optimism about the impact of stronger collaboration between the military and private businesses.
“This will not end here. If God gives us more life, we will do more. We believe with private sector collaboration, the Ghana Armed Forces can do better,” he stated.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Chief of the Defence Staff, Air Vice Marshal Joshua Mensah Larkai expressed appreciation to Omanbapa Deftech Limited and its management, describing the contribution as an important step towards providing decent and safe accommodation for military personnel.
“On behalf of the Chief of the Defence Staff, on my own behalf and on behalf of the Ghana Armed Forces, I say a very big thank you to you and your team for this very great gesture,” he said.
Air Vice Marshal Larkai urged other companies and organisations to emulate the gesture by supporting the Armed Forces’ housing initiatives, particularly those who had witnessed the progress being made in modernising military infrastructure.
He underscored the importance of national security, drawing attention to the often-unnoticed role the military plays in maintaining peace and stability.
“Security is like oxygen—if there is oxygen, it is free but when there is no oxygen, you know that you are in trouble,” he said.
He added: “That is what the Ghana Armed Forces does. We make sure there is security for Ghana.”
Air Vice Marshal Larkai also acknowledged the government’s support for the military’s development initiatives, noting that the current leadership had demonstrated commitment to advancing housing and modernisation projects.
He concluded by praying for God’s abundant blessings upon Omanbapa Deftech Limited and expressing hope that the company would continue to grow and become one of Ghana’s leading businesses.
