Pentecostal and Charismatic Council mourns passing of Ya-Na Abukari II
The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has expressed its condolences to the Royal Family of Dagbon following the death of Ya-Na Abukari II, Overlord of the Dagbon State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, and signed by its President, Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, the Council said it was deeply saddened by the passing of the traditional ruler.
The GPCC extended its sympathies to the Royal Family, the Dagbon Traditional Area and the people of Ghana, describing the late Ya-Na as a father, a unifier and a symbol of wisdom.
According to the Council, Ya-Na Abukari II's seven-year reign was marked by efforts to promote peace, reconciliation and development in Dagbon.
"We are deeply saddened by this great loss, as Ya-Na Abukari II was not only a father and a beacon of wisdom to the Dagbon people but also a pillar of unity whose reign over the past seven years strongly promoted peace and reconciliation," the statement said.
The Council said the late overlord would be remembered for his commitment to rebuilding harmony in Dagbon and advancing the development of the area.
It added that his leadership made a significant contribution to national cohesion and described his death as a loss not only to Dagbon but to Ghana as a whole.
The GPCC said it stands in solidarity with the bereaved family, traditional leaders and the people of Dagbon during the period of mourning.
The Council prayed for strength and comfort for the Royal Family and the people of Dagbon, expressing hope that the late Ya-Na's legacy of unity, peace and development would endure.
