Public workers to receive 10% pay rise in 2028, 9% in 2017
Public sector workers will be receiving a 9% increase in their total remuneration effective January 1, 2027.
This announcement comes following an agreement between the government and Organised Labour.
A 10% pay rise has also been agreed upon by the parties for 2028, effective January 1.
Secretary-General of Organised Labour, Joshua Ansah, disclosed this arrangement after a meeting of the Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee on Wednesday, October 28.
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson described the agreement as a historic milestone.
“Today marks a historic milestone in Ghana’s public service remuneration negotiations. For the first time, Government and Organised Labour have reached a two-year pay agreement,” he said.
