Torgbiga Addo VIII, late paramount Chief of Klikor Traditional Council

The Klikor Traditional Council has paid a glowing tribute to its late President and Paramount Chief, Torgbiga Addo VIII, describing his over 4 decade reign as a defining chapter in the history of modern Klikor.

The tribute, delivered on behalf of the council by Torgbi Adzoka IV, Paramount Stool Father of Klikor and Ag. President of the Klikor Traditional Council, eulogized the late Fiaga as a teacher, king, father, counselor and development advocate whose life was woven into the history of the land.

Fiaga Addo VIII, born on 21st April 1932 to Torgbi Addo IV and Madam Koshiwor Ametsime of Anlo Afiadenyigba, passed away on 14th January, 2026 aged 93.

The council recounted how the late Fiaga persevered to obtain a higher education to become a renowned mathematics educator.

He taught at St. Francis Training College, Peki College, and Jasikan College, rose to Principal Superintendent in the Ghana Education Service.

“Development slogan to him; it was part of his identity. The teacher in him remained present even when he became a king, expressed through counsel, discipline, and an enduring belief in young people's capacity to rise through knowledge,” the tribute noted.

When he assumed paramount leadership in the early 1980s, he accepted not merely a title but a sacred obligation.

For more than four decades, he led Klikor through changing governments and generations, believing chieftaincy must preserve culture, promote peace, strengthen discipline, resolve disputes and advance development.

His reign was marked by advocacy for electricity, potable water, road connectivity, education and community development including efforts connected with Klikor Unity School and broader secondary education opportunities.

The council also recalled his humanitarian spirit during political instability in neighboring Togo in the 1990s when he supported efforts that provided refuge to displaced persons who crossed into Ghana.

One of the major milestones of his reign was the attainment of traditional council status for Klikor.

In 2022, the Klikor Traditional Council was formally inaugurated under his presidency, strengthening the structure through which chiefs and Queen mothers deliberate on matters affecting the traditional area.

He repeatedly reminded traditional leaders that recognition and titles were not ends in themselves.

“A chief must listen, serve, protect the dignity of the stool, pursue peace, and place the collective interest of Klikor above personal ambition.”

“To the Left Wing, he was the Paramount Chief from whom counsel and direction flowed; to the Middle Wing, he represented the stabilizing center of traditional authority; and to the Right Wing, he was a leader who understood that modern development demanded knowledge, innovation, and discipline.”

The Queen mothers remember a father who recognised women’s indispensable place in traditional governance.

The chiefs remember their President and counselor who strengthened traditional institutions.

The elders remember a ruler whose long reign became part of their own living memory.

The youth remember a lesson that difficult beginnings do not determine destiny.

According to the council, the greatest measure of Fiaga Addo VIII is not in one project or title but in the values he placed before his people.

“You came. You learned. You taught. You led. You served. You counseled. You united. And now you rest. Your reign has ended, but your record remains. Your voice has fallen silent, but your works continue to speak. Your chair may be empty, but your place in the history of Klikor remains secure.”

“May unity prevail among our three wings. May harmony endure among our chiefs and Queen Mothers. May wisdom guide our elders. May discipline and ambition inspire our youth. May peace remain within our families,” the council concluded.
