President John Dramani Mahama, together with the Men’s Ministry of the Ringway Assemblies of God Church, has visited the Nsawam Medium Security Prison in the Eastern Region to fellowship with inmates and donate essential items to support their welfare.

The Ministry presented a range of food supplies, including 250 bags of rice, 50 bags each of maize, gari, and sugar, 30 gallons of cooking oil, as well as cartons of tomato paste, spaghetti, and sardines.

The visit featured a worship session led by the Men’s Ministry, including praise, prayer, and ministration.

Head Pastor of the Ringway Gospel Centre Assemblies of God Church, Benjamin Tettey, encouraged inmates to remain hopeful despite their circumstances, urging them to embrace repentance, personal reform, and faith.

Addressing the gathering, President Mahama emphasised the importance of compassion and support for persons in custody, noting that society must not neglect their welfare.

He also pledged to support improvements in sporting facilities within the prison and indicated that the Lordina Foundation would assist in addressing the health needs of inmates.

As part of the visit, the delegation toured ongoing development projects at the facility, including a 5,000-layer poultry project and an 800-capacity remand prison aimed at easing congestion.
