Tamale hospital staff strike over 5 months unpaid salaries
Some casual workers at the Northern Regional Hospital have initiated a sit-down strike over five months of unpaid wages.
The action is already affecting hygiene at the facility, with deteriorating conditions reported in several wards and washrooms, sparking concern among patients and staff.
sources close to Class News say uncollected waste and unpleasant odours in areas including the children’s, male and maternity wards, as well as other parts of the hospital.
speaking in an interview on March 23, the secretary of the orderlies, Adam Sulemana Baba, stated that the workers will remain off duty until their salary arrears are cleared.
According to the workers, the prolonged delay in payments has severely affected their ability to meet basic living expenses, leaving them with no option but to withdraw their services.
