Veep meets York University delegation to strengthen academic partnerships

  Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has met with a delegation from York University at her office to discuss opportunities for stronger academic collaboration between Ghanaian and international universities.

The meeting focused on expanding institutional partnerships, academic exchange programmes, research collaboration and student engagement initiatives aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for young people.

During the engagement, the York University delegation highlighted the institution’s growing interest in Africa, citing the continent’s youthful population and its increasing potential for innovation, research and academic exchange.

The delegation also expressed the university’s readiness to support partnerships that promote knowledge sharing, student mobility and cross-cultural learning experiences.

Vice President Opoku-Agyemang, who is an alumna of York University, described the engagement as particularly meaningful, noting her longstanding personal and professional ties with the institution.

She underscored the importance of international educational collaboration and experiential learning, stressing that exposure to diverse cultures and global environments provides valuable experiences that extend beyond classroom education.

The Vice President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that create opportunities for Ghanaian youth, strengthen educational cooperation and promote global academic connections.
