The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, on Monday, May 11, 2026, inaugurated newly completed office complexes of the National Teaching Council (NTC) in Kumasi and Tamale, in a move aimed at strengthening teacher regulation and improving education administration across Ghana.

The inauguration ceremonies brought together officials from the Ministry of Education, the Northern Regional Coordinating Council, the Ghana Education Service, teacher unions, traditional leaders, clergy, and other key education stakeholders.

Addressing the events, the Minister described the new facilities as a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to enhance the operational capacity of the NTC and improve service delivery to teachers nationwide.

He noted that the decentralisation of the Council’s work requires modern infrastructure to effectively manage teacher licensing, registration, professional development, and disciplinary processes.

Haruna Iddrisu also commended the leadership and staff of the Council for their commitment to promoting professionalism and maintaining standards within the teaching profession, reaffirming government’s continued investment in education and teacher development to improve learning outcomes.

The Governing Board Chairman of the Council, Mr. Kwami Alorvi, together with regional education stakeholders, expressed appreciation to government for the support, noting that the new offices would enhance accessibility, efficiency, and coordination of the Council’s operations across the northern and middle belt regions.

The ceremonies concluded with guided tours of the facilities and engagements with staff and invited guests.
