The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has issued a clarification and updated advisory directing all teacher trainees across the country to return to their respective colleges and resume academic activities following progress toward resolving the ongoing Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) industrial action.

In a statement released on Sunday, February 8, 2026, TTAG explained that its earlier directive asking trainees to stay home was issued at the height of the strike, when teaching and learning had effectively stalled.

According to the association, the initial advice was made in good faith and in the academic interest of trainees nationwide, as the industrial action by CETAG had disrupted normal academic work.

“TTAG formally advised all Teacher Trainees to remain at home, as effective teaching and learning could not take place,” the statement said.

However, with recent engagements aimed at addressing CETAG’s concerns and indications that the impasse is being resolved, the Association is now urging students to return to campus.

TTAG strongly advised all teacher trainees to report to their colleges and resume lectures and other academic activities as directed by college authorities from Monday, February 9, 2026.

The association also moved to correct what it described as misinformation circulating in sections of the media. It clarified that it has not called for a complete restart of the academic calendar.

Instead, TTAG said it is advocating for the recovery of the three weeks of instructional time lost due to the strike to ensure students do not suffer academically.

TTAG reaffirmed its commitment to clear communication, academic fairness, and the overall welfare of teacher trainees across the country.

The latest directive is expected to bring relief and clarity to thousands of trainees whose academic schedules were disrupted by the industrial action.
