Adwoa Oboubia Darko Opoku briefing Akuapim Omanhene in Accra

The Omanhene of the Akuapem Traditional Area, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, has paid a visit to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), where he engaged with management and staff and expressed support for the institution’s mandate.

The visit, which took place in Accra, saw the traditional ruler accompanied by members of his royal household.

His engagement with the Fund was described as both official and personal, as he sought to assess the progress of the organisation and offer encouragement to its leadership.

At the centre of the visit was the Administrator of the Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, who hails from the Akuapem area. The Omanhene indicated that his visit was partly to understand her experience since assuming office, as well as to gain insight into the challenges and achievements of the Fund.

During his interaction with the team, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III observed ongoing work and commended the efforts being made to expand access to specialised healthcare across the country.

He noted that the impact of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund extends beyond institutional structures, reaching communities and improving lives.

In a goodwill message, the Akuapem Paramount Chief urged the Administrator and her team to remain committed to their mandate, emphasising the importance of dedication, integrity, and service to the nation.

He also expressed optimism about the Fund’s potential to improve healthcare outcomes, particularly for patients living with chronic conditions.

The visit is expected to further strengthen morale within the organisation, as it underscores growing support from traditional leadership for initiatives aimed at improving access to healthcare in Ghana.

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund continues to position itself as a key intervention in ensuring that specialised healthcare becomes more accessible and equitable for all Ghanaians, regardless of location.
