Ghana National Bureau donates body bags and reflector vests to Police MTTD
The Ghana National Bureau has donated 300 body bags and a quantity of reflector vests to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service to support road safety and emergency response efforts.
The donation forms part of initiatives aimed at strengthening road safety operations and improving the capacity of the Police MTTD in handling accident-related emergencies.
As part of the exercise, officials of the Ghana National Bureau, in collaboration with the Police MTTD at Amasaman, also embarked on a public education campaign targeting both local and foreign drivers operating within the ECOWAS sub-region.
The sensitisation programme focused on the importance of the ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme and its relevance to motorists involved in cross-border travel.
Drivers were educated on the benefits of the Brown Card and the support it provides in the event of road accidents across ECOWAS member states.
Officials explained that the scheme is intended to facilitate compensation and insurance coverage for victims of motor accidents involving vehicles travelling within the sub-region.
The exercise also sought to deepen awareness among commercial and private drivers on the need to comply with insurance and road safety regulations while promoting safer driving practices.
The Ghana National Bureau reaffirmed its commitment to supporting road safety initiatives and strengthening collaboration with the Police MTTD to improve public awareness and accident response mechanisms across the country.
