Prof. Titus Beyuo calls for Greater African investment in Healthcare to achieve true sovereignty
Board Chairman of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and Member of Parliament for Lambussie, Titus Beyuo, called on African governments to take greater control of their healthcare systems and reduce dependence on foreign actors in setting health priorities.
According to him, African countries must work together to build stronger health systems capable of meeting the needs of their citizens while reflecting the continent's own values and aspirations.
Mr. Beyuo highlighted Ghana's efforts to promote healthcare independence through the African Health Sovereignty Summit convened by President Mahama, which resulted in the "Accra Reset" initiative aimed at advancing self-determined healthcare policies across Africa.
He urged governments across the continent to invest in sustainable healthcare systems and ensure that decisions affecting the wellbeing of their people are driven by national priorities.
The conference continues with discussions centred on family values, policy independence, healthcare sovereignty and the future direction of Africa's development agenda.
