Altruism toward the vulnerable is the hidden key to prosperity - Former NPP Treasurer
Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Treasurer for Awutu Senya East and entrepreneur Aikins Boakye says his commitment to philanthropy has contributed significantly to his personal and professional success.
Mr Boakye made the remarks after donating items valued at more than GH₵100,000, together with an undisclosed amount of cash, to the Village of Hope Orphanage to support its daily operations.
According to him, his continuous support for the underprivileged has brought blessings to his businesses and family life.
He encouraged philanthropists, Christians, and the general public to support vulnerable people in society, stating that acts of giving attract divine favour and blessings.
Mr Boakye further described giving as a covenant between humanity and God, adding that people who give willingly are often rewarded through progress in their finances and businesses.
He also appealed to Ghanaians to support children at the Village of Hope Orphanage through donations to help improve their welfare and sense of belonging.
Meanwhile, Mrs Mame Odumaa attributed the neglect of children by some mothers to economic hardship and unplanned pregnancies. She advised mothers who are unable to care for their children to seek support from orphanages rather than abandoning them.
Speaking to Class News reporter Samuel Addo after the donation, the Senior House Parent of the Village of Hope, Rexford Asumeng, highlighted some of the challenges facing the institution over the past 30 years.
According to him, the orphanage continues to struggle with inadequate funding for maintenance, financial constraints, and a lack of sponsorship opportunities for residents pursuing tertiary education.
He, therefore, called on the government to introduce a policy that would support children from orphanages across the country to access higher education.
