Former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo has maintained that the funeral of the late Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka will proceed as planned, despite opposition from her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena Kantanka.

Speaking on Peace FM, Adwoa Safo said the funeral would go ahead on the scheduled dates, beginning on July 30.

"The funeral will come off live and coloured," she said.

She disclosed that she and her team had written to the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies to provide security for the event.

Adwoa Safo also said she had confirmed the funeral programme with former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Speaker of Parliament and the Chief of Staff.

She said she would not allow Akofena and his team to plan and execute a substandard funeral for their late father, when she is determined to give him "a befitting burial" in appreciation of his support throughout her life.

However, she said members of the public should not be surprised if Akofena and his supporters attended the funeral in their traditional attire, despite their opposition.

"They did the same for the 40 days ceremony," she said.

According to her, the funeral date was obtained with the approval of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

"We went to Otumfuo to get the date," she said.

Adwoa Safo further stated that, apart from Akofena, all the children of Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo agreed with the burial date and arrangements.

She said she had no intention of meeting her brother again.

"They may shoot a 100 bullets at me while in my car, and I may not survive this time," she explained.

"What would I be looking for at his place after 48 bullets were fired at me?"

She also expressed concern that her father's mortal remains had remained unburied for too long.

On Akofena's opposition to the arrangements, she further said: "If Akofena would not agree to the burial arrangements, he can go and burn the sea."

Referring to the ongoing dispute, Adwoa Safo reminded her brother and his supporters that they were on bail.

"I'm reminding him and his boys that they are on bail and are supposed to be of good behavior," the lawyer cautioned.
