Dynamic leadership at NPA key to sector stability - John Jinapor
Energy and Green Transition Minister John Abdulai Jinapor has attributed the stability in Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector to the strategic leadership provided by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) over the years.
He made the remarks during the Authority’s 20th anniversary celebration, where he acknowledged the institution’s strong regulatory framework and industry-wide impact.
The Minister singled out the Chief Executive, Godwin Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo, for praise, describing him as an exemplary leader whose problem-solving approach has strengthened the Authority’s efficiency.
“Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo ESQ is a very young, intelligent, sharp and dynamic lawyer. Anytime there is a challenge, he offers very workable solutions and I appreciate him for that,” Mr Jinapor stated.
He said Mr Tameklo’s leadership reflects the kind of forward-thinking approach needed to navigate the global shift towards cleaner and more sustainable energy.
According to him, the NPA’s proactive stance aligns with the government’s commitment to an energy transition that protects both the environment and economic growth.
Mr Jinapor further commended the Authority’s collaboration with industry players, noting that such partnerships have helped minimise market disruptions, improve fuel quality, and enhance consumer protection.
He stressed that these achievements demonstrate the value of regulatory institutions that place national interest above all else.
As the NPA marks two decades, the Minister urged the leadership to continue embracing innovation, research and technology.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to working with the Authority to ensure Ghana remains on track in its pursuit of a resilient and sustainable energy future.
