President Mahama mourns the passing of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings

President John Dramani Mahama has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, former First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, following her passing.

In a tribute message, President Mahama described the late Mrs. Rawlings as a trailblazer whose legacy of leadership, courage, and dedication to women’s empowerment will forever be remembered.

“Her legacy and commitment to empowering women and serving our country will never be forgotten.

Ghana has lost a remarkable woman who devoted her life to public service and nation-building,” President Mahama stated.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was renowned for her pioneering advocacy for women’s rights and her instrumental role in establishing the 31st December Women’s Movement, which championed gender equality, education, and economic empowerment for women across Ghana.

Messages of sympathy and tributes have continued to pour in from across the political spectrum and civil society, celebrating her as a pillar of strength and a voice for the marginalised.

 

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course.
