The Women’s Missionary Union of the Trinity Baptist Church at Patase in the Ashanti Region has extended a hand of compassion to inmates of the Amanfrom Camp Prison in the Kumasi Metropolis by donating assorted food items, toiletries, and other essentials valued at GHS20,000.

The items included bags of rice, sugar, maize, gari, toiletries, liquid soap, and cooked meals, among others.

The group also spent time sharing the word of God with the inmates as part of their outreach.

Mrs. Felicia Bokye, President of the Women’s Missionary Union, said the gesture was inspired by their faith and maternal responsibility.

“We are mothers, and whatever we do, we must remember our children in prison,” she stated.

Citing scripture, she added: “The Bible says, ‘When I was in prison, you did not visit me.’ God has commissioned us to show love, and that is why we are here.”

She encouraged philanthropists and NGOs to extend similar support to prisons across the country.

DSP Yinbil Emmanuel, Assistant Chaplain and Assistant Operations Officer at the facility, received the items on behalf of the prison.

He commended the group for their generosity and urged other organisations to support efforts to feed and care for the inmates.

According to him, such donations greatly help supplement the government provisions and improve the welfare of prisoners.
