Volta Region to benefit from improved network connectivity, Minister assures at National Girls-in-ICT Climax

The Minister for Communications, Technology and Digital Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has assured that network connectivity in the Volta Region will soon experience significant improvement. He disclosed this while addressing participants at the climax of the National Girls-in-ICT celebration held in the Volta Region.
George Nartey revealed that the Volta Regional Minister was the first to formally write to his office highlighting the poor network connectivity challenges faced in the region.
He pledged that the Ministry, in collaboration with key stakeholders, is committed to addressing these concerns to ensure digital inclusion for all.
Speaking under the theme "Girls in ICT for Inclusive Digital Transformation," the Minister emphasized the importance of bridging the digital divide between boys and girls. He described the Girls-in-ICT initiative as a game changer that provides young girls with vital exposure and skills in technology, preparing them for future opportunities in the digital economy.
“This initiative will help reduce the digital gap and open up new learning and career pathways for girls, especially in underrepresented communities."
This year, the Ministry targets training 3,000 girls across the Volta, Upper East, and Upper West Regions, with the Volta Region leading the rollout.
The Girls-in-ICT is spearheaded by the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation (MoCDTI) in collaboration with the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) and the Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (KACE).
The initiative forms part of a broader national strategy to promote STEM education and create inclusive opportunities in the rapidly evolving digital space.
