The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of PSC Tema Shipyard Company Limited, Peter Mensah, has disclosed that the company’s new management is determined to restore the facility to full operational capacity as part of broader efforts to reposition the shipyard within Africa’s maritime industry.

Mr. Mensah made the remarks following a working visit by the newly inaugurated Board of Directors to the shipyard in Tema, barely a day after their official swearing-in.

The visit formed part of the board’s initial engagement with the company to assess the current operational state of the facility and identify key priority areas requiring urgent intervention.

According to him, the visit provided the board with first-hand insight into the operational challenges facing the company while also allowing management to outline strategic steps being taken to restore efficiency and productivity.

Mr. Mensah expressed confidence in the leadership of the Board Chairman, George Sipa-Adjah Yankey, noting that his wealth of experience and strategic expertise would be critical in strengthening the shipyard’s logistics, mobilising the necessary investment, and positioning the facility as a competitive maritime hub in Africa.

Reflecting on the state of the company when he assumed office, the Deputy CEO acknowledged that the shipyard faces a number of operational and infrastructural challenges.

However, he indicated that management has begun implementing reforms aimed at addressing these constraints and improving operational efficiency.

He also welcomed the successful inauguration of the board, describing it as a significant step toward restoring the company’s operational viability and long-term sustainability.

Mr. Mensah further stressed that while management remains committed to revitalising the shipyard, sustained government support will be essential in enabling the company to achieve its strategic recovery and expansion goals.
