Gov't to partner Catholic Church to complete Legacy of Hope Hospital — Vice President

Vice President, Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has assured that the government will partner with the Catholic Church to complete the Legacy of Hope Paediatric and Childhood Cancer Hospital at Adjen Kotoku in the Ga West District of the Greater Accra Region.
Speaking at the Closing Mass of the 2025 Rosary Congress, the Vice President said the government welcomes such faith-based initiatives that advance national development.
“Government will work with the Church because this request is not for personal gain, but for the national interest,” she stated, assuring the congregation of continued collaboration in the health sector.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urged the faithful to always put the national interest above all else, describing it as a foundation for sustainable growth and unity.
Her assurance followed an appeal by the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, for support to complete the hospital project.
The Archbishop explained that the Legacy of Hope Paediatric and Childhood Cancer Hospital is designed to provide critical healthcare to children across Ghana and beyond, irrespective of religion or cultural background.
Most Rev. Kwofie emphasised that the hospital represents a beacon of hope and compassion for children battling cancer and other complex medical conditions, adding that it stands as a testament to the Church’s commitment to human dignity and public welfare.
The facility, once completed, will include an Outpatient Department (OPD), a theatre, a radiology unit, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a pharmacy, a medical block, a maternity ward, and a special accommodation unit.
