The Ministry of Health has rejected claims that its newly introduced recruitment portal is fraudulent, stating that the system was designed to promote transparency, fairness and district-level recruitment of health professionals.

The clarification follows concerns and allegations on social media after thousands of applicants reportedly experienced challenges during the nationwide recruitment exercise for about 8,000 health workers.

Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, the Director of Human Resource at the Ministry of Health, Frederick Acheampong, explained that the portal decentralises recruitment by directing applications to the various districts, where verification and interviews will be conducted independently.

He acknowledged that heavy traffic on the platform caused technical difficulties in some areas, particularly in the southern part of the country, but maintained that the system operated according to the allocations approved for each district and professional category.

Frederick Acheampong further stated that some vacancies in northern Ghana remain unfilled because many applicants preferred postings in urban areas rather than deprived communities.

The ministry also cautioned the public against paying money to middlemen or individuals claiming they can facilitate recruitment opportunities.

According to the ministry, security agencies are investigating alleged fraudulent activities linked to the recruitment exercise.
