Ho West MP launches a 5-day free medical outreach
Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho West, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah has launched a five-day free medical outreach programme aimed at improving access to healthcare for thousands of residents across the constituency and neighbouring communities.
The outreach, which commenced on Monday, July 27, 2026, is being held in two phases.
The first phase runs from Monday, July 27 to Wednesday, July 29 at the Awudome-Tsito Health Centre while the second phase will take place from Thursday, July 30 to Friday, July 31 at the Dzolo Gborgame Health Centre.
The initiative has assembled more than 170 volunteer medical specialists from the United States of America and Canada to provide free specialized healthcare services to an estimated 15,000 people.
The medical team is expected to offer a wide range of services including specialist consultations, surgeries, medical screening, diagnosis and treatment with the objective of reducing the healthcare burden on residents who may otherwise be unable to afford such services.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Bedzrah said the programme formed part of his commitment to improving healthcare delivery in the Ho West Constituency and ensuring that quality medical care was accessible to all, particularly the vulnerable groups.
On his part,the Volta Regional Minister,James Gunu commended Hon. Bedzrah and the volunteer medical team for this life-changing initiative.
He described the initiative as a significant boost to emergency healthcare delivery in the district.
The launch was attended by the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu; the Volta Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mawutor Agbavitor; the Ho West District Chief Executive, Prosper Francis Dussey; traditional leaders, queen mothers, opinion leaders and hundreds of residents.
The dignitaries commended Mr Bedzrah for the initiative, describing it as a major investment in the health and well-being of the people of Ho West.
They also praised the volunteer medical specialists from the USA and Canada for dedicating their time and expertise to supporting healthcare delivery in the constituency, noting that the outreach would have a lasting impact on the lives of the beneficiaries.
Residents, who turned up for the opening of the project, expressed their appreciation to the MP and the medical team, saying the programme would provide many people with access to specialist healthcare services that are often difficult or expensive to obtain.
