NHIA CEO pays courtesy call on Ga Mantse, invites him to chair national stakeholders conference
The Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, has led his executive management team to pay a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, at his private residence in Accra.
The visit was to pay homage to the Ga King and seek his blessings on the Authority’s operations, as well as to formally invite him to chair the NHIA’s maiden National Stakeholders Conference, scheduled for October 28–29, 2025, at the Alisa Hotel, Accra.
Themed “Consolidating Strategic Partnerships for a Resilient and Inclusive Health Insurance Scheme,” the two-day conference is a major milestone in the NHIA’s renewed commitment to stakeholder collaboration and its vision to strengthen the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for improved service delivery and sustainability.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Bampoe expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception and emphasised the importance of paying courtesy to traditional authority.
“We came to pay our respects to His Royal Majesty because we operate within his jurisdiction.
We also know that His Majesty has shown great interest in health, particularly through his efforts to register vulnerable people and children under the NHIS,” Dr. Bampoe said.
He highlighted the significance of the upcoming conference, describing it as “the most important event on the NHIA’s calendar in recent times.”
“After careful consideration, we found no better person than His Royal Majesty to chair this national event.
The President would have loved to attend but will be away on official duty, so the Vice President will represent him.
We humbly request His Majesty’s presence to make the occasion memorable,” Dr. Bampoe added.
The NHIA CEO was accompanied by his deputies — Mr. Raphael Segkpeb, Deputy CEO for Administration and Human Resources, and Madam Anatu Anne Seidu Bogobiri, Deputy CEO for Finance and Investment.
He reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting health-related initiatives championed by the Ga Mantse, pledging collaboration with the Ga Traditional Council to expand access to healthcare.
“We want to pledge our support and allegiance to His Majesty. Whatever health initiatives he undertakes, the NHIA stands ready to partner and contribute,” Dr. Bampoe assured.
In his response, His Royal Majesty Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II expressed gratitude for the visit and the honour extended to him, accepting the invitation to chair the conference.
He offered prayers of blessing, guidance, and success to the NHIA leadership and their endeavours.
Members of the NHIA delegation included senior management and departmental heads such as Oswald Essua-Mensah, Director of Corporate Affairs; Angela Auch, Director of Human Resources; Samuel Sowah Oblejumah, Greater Accra Regional Director; and Hamdiya Amadu Yakubu, Deputy Director of Provider and Client Relations.
Others present were Doreen Andoh, Communications and Media Relations Manager; Ebenezer Danso, Senior Communications Officer; Isaac Marano Hagan, Senior Marketing Officer; and Mary Clottey, Senior Marketing Officer.
The meeting ended on a cordial note, symbolising strengthened ties between the NHIA and the Ga Traditional Council in advancing healthcare delivery and community well-being.
