The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has emphasized the need for mental health in the workplaces to prioritize mental health and create supportive environments that promote employee well-being and productivity.

Speaking at a roundtable discussion on Mental Health in the Workplace, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA, Madam Anatu Seidu Bogobiri, stressed that healthy workplaces are deliberately built through empathy, open communication, and supportive leadership.

According to her, mental health significantly influences how individuals work, lead, interact, perform, and live, making it essential for organisations to create safe spaces where employees can openly seek help and support without fear of stigma or discrimination.

The engagement highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare, early intervention, and institutional cultures that place equal value on people and productivity.

Madam Bogobiri also commended the Chief Executive of the NHIA, Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, for his commitment to staff welfare and efforts aimed at promoting institutional well-being within the Authority.

She encouraged organisations and stakeholders to sustain conversations around mental health, adopt compassionate leadership approaches, and strengthen access to early care and support systems.

The NHIA says it remains committed to promoting healthier, more supportive, and productive workplaces through continuous advocacy and awareness on mental health issues.
