Tragic road accident claims life of sole Nurse at Kusali CHPS Compound
A 32-year-old enrolled nurse, Nafisa Adama, died in a road accident on Tuesday, May 12, while transporting medical supplies to the Kusali CHPS Compound in the Sissala West District.
Madam Nafisa was traveling from the district capital, Gwollu, back to her station approximately 15 kilometers away when the incident occurred around 16:00 GMT.
According to District Health Information Officer Rauf Bawa Basugu, the accident was triggered by strong winds and heavy rainfall.
A motor tricycle traveling from the opposite direction lost control in the storm and collided head-on with Madam Nafisa’s motorbike.

Although she was rushed for emergency medical attention, she was pronounced dead an hour later from severe injuries.
Madam Nafisa had been married for only two weeks and was a mother of two.
She began her service in Gwollu in 2023 before transferring to Kusali, where she served as the community's sole health professional. Her death leaves the area without a resident health worker.
The loss highlights a critical staffing shortage in the Sissala West District, where only 13 of the 36 health workers who left this year have been replaced.
