Cape Coast Assembly presents 8-year development plan to gov't
The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, led by Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) George Justice Arthur, has paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Vice President, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, to present an eight-year development plan aimed at transforming the Cape Coast Metropolis.
The delegation, which included the Members of Parliament for Cape Coast North and Cape Coast South, also used the occasion to extend New Year greetings and expressed optimism about gaining the strength and clarity needed to support the government’s ongoing national reset agenda.
During the meeting, the Assembly outlined key components of its long-term development strategy, including the refurbishment and eventual operationalisation of the Evans Atta Mills Library, as well as the rehabilitation of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital to improve healthcare delivery in the area.
Discussions also focused on measures to make Cape Coast more vibrant and economically viable.
The parties explored ways government support could be complemented by local fundraising initiatives to accelerate development within the metropolis.
The Vice President encouraged the Assembly to adopt an inclusive approach by actively involving residents of Cape Coast in decision-making processes.
This, she noted, would foster a sense of ownership among the people and motivate them to support and sustain development initiatives.
While commending the Assembly’s commitment to the development of Cape Coast, officials further stressed the importance of aligning local development goals with the broader national development agenda to ensure balanced growth across the country.
