Concerned Youth of Tema confirms NPP Secretary sold TDC land to wife

The Concerned Youth of Tema have accused Mr. Ian Okwei Tabalor, the Tema Central Constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Protocol Officer of TDC Ghana Limited, of engaging in alleged illegal land dealings.
In a statement released over the weekend, the youth group claimed to be in possession of documents indicating that Mr. Tabalor used his influence under the previous TDC administration, led by former Managing Director Madam Alice Ofori Atta, to reassign a public facility to his wife.
According to the group, Mr. Tabalor allegedly facilitated the conversion of a public toilet facility—previously serving residents of the Community 5 enclave—into a private property for his wife, Madam Irene Ackam, who is said to operate under the business name Renes Multi Ventures.
The group further alleged that Madam Ackam acquired the government land for just GHS 2,060, an amount they described as a “paltry sum” considering the land’s public utility purpose.
Their statement comes in reaction to comments made by Mr. Tabalor during an interview with Citi FM’s Point Blank programme on September 4, 2025, where he dismissed the accusations as false publications.
The Concerned Youth of Tema, however, insists that the allegations are backed by documentary evidence.
They also praised the current Managing Director of TDC Ghana Limited, Mr. Courage Makafui Nunekpeku, for reversing the transaction and returning the land to the state for public use.
“We want the general public, Ghanaians and the world to know that Mr. Ian facilitated for the wife to pay a paltry amount of GHS 2,060 for a government land meant to serve the community,” the statement read.
The group concluded by commending Mr. Nunekpeku for his “bold decision” to protect public interest and restore the facility for community use.
