'He is the Joshua of our time” – John Afful heaps praise on Armah-Kofi Buah in the face of galamsey fight
The Director of Communication at the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (RCOMSDEP), Mr. John Afful, has described the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, as the “Joshua of our time” in Ghana’s ongoing fight against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
Speaking in an interview with Accra 100.5 FM’s Environmental Protection Correspondent, Samuel Kofi Payitey, Mr. Afful said the Minister’s commitment, dedication, and determination clearly distinguish him as a leader capable of confronting the illegal mining menace head-on.
According to Mr. Afful, based on what Ghanaians have witnessed so far, Mr Armah-Kofi Buah has demonstrated a strong willingness to protect the country’s natural resources, particularly forest reserves and water bodies threatened by illegal mining activities.
“He is the 'Joshua' of our time when it comes to the fight against galamsey,” Mr. Afful stated.
“His dedication, commitment, and determination give me the confidence to boldly say that he will lead this fight successfully.”
Mr. Afful further expressed unwavering trust in the Minister, stressing that Mr Armah-Kofi Buah would not disappoint Ghanaians in the battle against illegal mining.
He emphasised that the Minister’s passion for environmental protection and sustainable mining reforms sets him apart from past efforts.
“I can put my life down for Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah any day, anytime, and anywhere because of his commitment, determination, and passion to bring illegal mining to an end in this country,” he added.
Mr. Afful also reaffirmed RCOMSDEP’s readiness to support government initiatives aimed at promoting responsible mining practices while safeguarding the environment and ensuring sustainable livelihoods for communities affected by mining.
