Kalsoume Sinare, Kojo Bonsu, Amassa Namoale appointed ambassadors

Veteran Ghanaian actress and cultural icon, Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe, has been appointed Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain by President John Dramani Mahama.
Her appointment was confirmed in an official letter dated June 21, 2025, signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama.
Sinare’s selection is part of a new wave of 15 diplomatic postings, including ambassadors, high commissioners, and a consul-general designate, all tasked with advancing Ghana’s foreign policy and development agenda abroad.
At 58, Sinare becomes the fifth Ghanaian to serve as Ambassador to Spain, and notably, only the third woman to occupy the post.
Her appointment marks a significant step in Ghana’s ongoing efforts to promote gender equity in diplomacy and to harness talent from diverse professional backgrounds.
With a career spanning nearly four decades in the creative arts, Kalsoume Sinare is one of Ghana’s most recognisable figures in film.
She rose to prominence in 1993 with her breakout role in Out of Sight, Out of Love and has since featured in more than 300 films.
Her performances have earned her multiple awards, including the prestigious Golden Actress Award in 2017.
Long before her film career flourished, Sinare made international headlines in pageantry.
She was first runner-up in the 1989 Miss Ghana pageant and won the Miss Model of Africa crown at the 1990 Miss Model of the World competition in Taiwan.
Her academic credentials further strengthen her new diplomatic role.
She holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from GIMPA, a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration, and professional certifications in International Cultural Diplomacy and AfCFTA implementation.
She is also the CEO of Farikals Productions, a business entity with interests spanning healthcare, construction, trade, and entertainment.
In addition to her contributions to culture and business, Sinare has played an active role in public service.
She previously served on the Ghana Tourism Development Board and remains a committed member of the NDC, reflecting a deep involvement in national development and civic engagement.
Her appointment as Ambassador to Spain underscores the Mahama-led administration’s vision of inclusive leadership, drawing on the rich experiences of individuals from the arts, academia, and business to project Ghana’s image globally.
Sinare’s blend of diplomacy, cultural influence, and public service is expected to enhance Ghana-Spain relations, particularly in areas such as tourism, trade, and cultural exchange.
