POPE launches bid for NPP National Youth Organiser, confident of 2028 victory
Aspiring National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Michael Osei Boateng, popularly known as POPE, says he is confident the party will return to power in the 2028 general election and has pledged to lead a strong grassroots mobilisation campaign if elected.
Mr Boateng made the remarks on Monday as he officially launched his campaign for the National Youth Organiser position at a press conference in East Legon.
He said he believes the NPP will regain power in 2028 "by the grace of God", with the party's youth playing a key role in its electoral fortunes.
According to him, if elected, he will focus on organising, energising and mobilising young people across the country to strengthen the party's grassroots structures ahead of the polls.
Mr Boateng also echoed comments by the NPP's 2024 presidential candidate, Mahamudu Bawumia, saying the party would continue to express its views and carry out its activities despite what he described as attempts to intimidate its members.
He said the NPP remains committed to rebuilding its structures, reconnecting with supporters at the grassroots and preparing for the 2028 elections.
Outlining his vision for the role, Mr Boateng said his campaign would focus on youth empowerment, party unity and strengthening the NPP's grassroots machinery.
He also pledged to work closely with Dr Bawumia to help reposition the party as it seeks to return to power in 2028.
