In a decisive show of support, Paul Afotey Quaye has been confirmed as the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for the  Krowor Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region, securing a 100% endorsement from the Assembly Members.

All 19 eligible voters—including 11 elected Assembly Members, six government appointees, the Member of Parliament, and the outgoing MCE—voted in favour of Quaye's nomination, signalling overwhelming confidence in his leadership and vision for the municipality.

The confirmation ceremony, held at the GNAT Conference Hall in Nungua, was both triumphant and emotional. In his acceptance speech,Mr Quaye pledged to prioritise development, youth employment, and social cohesion.

He called for unity among residents and assured stakeholders of his readiness to deliver on key initiatives to improve living standards in the constituency.

However, the event was not without controversy. Traditional leaders from the Amafra area boycotted the ceremony in protest against Quaye's appointment, a move that resulted in a noticeably lower turnout.

Their absence raises concerns about potential friction between the MCE and parts of the traditional authority.

In a poignant moment during his speech, Quaye became emotional and broke down in tears while acknowledging the Member of Parliament,  Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, underlining the weight of the responsibility ahead and the depth of his commitment.

Despite the boycott by the Amafra chiefs, Quaye's unanimous endorsement positions him strongly to begin his tenure.

He faces the immediate challenge of bridging divides and ensuring inclusive development across the municipality. His leadership, he affirmed, will be anchored on transparency, collaboration, and progress for all.
