The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Chayil Securex, Charles Fiifi Hagan, has described cybersecurity as an essential life skill, urging individuals to acquire digital security knowledge alongside pursuing career opportunities in the field.

Speaking after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Fanaka International University College to provide cybersecurity training, Mr Hagan said cybersecurity has become a necessity in an increasingly digital world.

"Cyber security, number one, is not just a career, it is now something you need for your daily survival," he said, in an exclusive interview with Class News.

Drawing a comparison with personal safety, he stressed that people must now protect themselves digitally just as they safeguard their physical and spiritual well-being.

"In the same way we protect ourselves physically and spiritually, now we have to protect ourselves digitally. That is where your knowledge in cyber security comes up," he stated.

Mr Hagan explained that the training programme goes beyond imparting knowledge by preparing participants to obtain an internationally recognised professional certification.

According to him, trainees will have the opportunity to sit for the CompTIA Security+ certification examination, a qualification that can open doors to entry-level cybersecurity jobs.

"You don't just get the knowledge. You get to write and pass a certificate that can get you a job to practice cyber security," he said.

He added that the objective of the programme is to develop professionals who are equipped with both practical skills and recognised credentials.

"Apart from the knowledge, we are preparing you to also become a professional," he noted.

Mr Hagan particularly encouraged graduates and unemployed young people to consider enrolling in the course.

"If you are sitting at home, maybe you are finished with school, and you don't know why you are not getting job, take the course," he urged.

He advised prospective participants who are able to do so to take the certification examination, saying it could create new employment opportunities.

"If you can afford, write the paper and see what the future holds for you," he added.
