Energy Ministry, NEDCo begins transformer upgrades to improve power supply in Tamale
The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition in collaboration with the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), has begun the replacement and upgrading of distribution transformers in Tamale and surrounding communities in the Northern Region.
The intervention forms part of ongoing efforts to improve voltage stability, reduce power outages, and enhance the reliability of electricity supply in the region.
The sector Minister Dr John Jinapor in a post on Facebook said the project is aimed at strengthening the distribution network to better meet growing demand for power from households, businesses, and public institutions in the area.
According to him, the upgrade is also expected to reduce system losses and improve the overall efficiency of electricity delivery within affected communities.
He has assured residents that the works will be carried out in phases to minimise disruption, while efforts continue to ensure a more stable and dependable power supply across Tamale and its environs during the process.
