GIFEC boosts Sports Ministry’s digital capacity ahead of World Cup
The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has supported the Ministry of Sports and Recreation with digital equipment to enhance operations ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
The support, provided on April 2, 2026, included the donation of high-speed laptops and projectors aimed at improving administrative efficiency and strengthening the Ministry’s technological capacity.
The initiative also forms part of efforts to establish a Digital Centre to streamline internal processes and communication.
Administrator of GIFEC, Tanko Rashid-Computer, reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to advancing digital transformation within public institutions.
He emphasised the critical role of technology in improving planning, coordination, and overall preparedness for major international events such as the World Cup.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Ministry, Senior Technical Advisor Betty Krosbi Mensah expressed appreciation for the gesture, highlighting its importance in boosting the Ministry’s operational readiness.
She was joined by the Minister’s Personal Assistant, Wonder Sitsofe Mandel.
Also present at the brief ceremony were Francisca Adjei, Director of Corporate Affairs at GIFEC, and Zulaiya Yakubu, Head of Training.
The initiative underscores growing collaboration between GIFEC and the Ministry as Ghana intensifies preparations for the global football showpiece.
