The Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) officially launched its electronic gazette (e-Gazette) system, a digital platform aimed at making the process of gazette application faster, more efficient, and accessible to all Ghanaians.  According to the new system operates on a 24-hour service model, allowing users to conveniently apply for gazettes online without the need for in-person visits wherever they are.

Speaking at a press conference held in the Ghana Publishing Company Limited on Monday, November 10, Managing Director, Nana Kwasi Boatey, described the move as a major shift in the company’s history and a boost to government’s 24-hour economy initiative.

"We are leveraging on this digital transformation to make sure Ghanaians living everywhere, can now apply for gazzette. It is user friendly , it is accessible, Its available 24/7 around the clock , and that is what a proper 24 hours economy looks like," he said.

He explained that an earlier version of the e-gazette, created in December 2024, was never operational or traceable online.

"Unfortunately, when we came, there were no traces of the E-Gazette that was launched, so we had to go through the process all a new to create this platform."

Mr. Boatey also highlighted that the creation of the platform came at no cost to the taxpayer, reflecting the company’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and responsible resource management.

Through the new e-gazette platform, Ghanaians can now access key gazetted services online such as change or confirmation of names, date of birth updates, registration of businesses, schools, and hospitals, as well as licensing of public places of worship and appointment of marriage officers.

Addressing concerns about potential cybersecurity threats, the Managing Director assured that the company will collaborate with the platform developers to ensure the platform remains safe, secure, and efficient at all times.

"Cybersecurity is a continuum, you can not put in all the features today and go to sleep, every day needs a check on the firewall, and we need to provide security and safety, and so we will work with the partners continuously to make sure that this system is safe and secured."

He said that the launch represents a significant step in improving public access to gazetted services, supporting Ghana’s digital transformation and the vision of a 24-hour economy.
