ID4Africa 2026 AGM enters day three with focus on secure digital identity systems
The 2026 Annual General Meeting of ID4Africa has entered its third day, with continued high-level discussions on strengthening secure digital identity systems across Africa and within the global digital ecosystem.
The forum has brought together policymakers, industry experts, and technology leaders to deliberate on practical approaches to building resilient and trusted identity infrastructure to support digital transformation on the continent.
As part of the day’s engagements, George Williams, Chief of IT Infrastructure at Margins ID Group, participated in a high-level panel discussion focused on securing national identity systems and enhancing resilience across digital identity ecosystems.
The panel examined key implementation challenges, including infrastructure protection, biometric security systems, credential issuance processes, incident response mechanisms, and institutional coordination.
Participants also shared practical experiences and best practices aimed at improving system reliability and trust.
Discussions further emphasized the importance of strengthening digital identity frameworks as Africa accelerates efforts toward more connected and secure public service delivery systems.
Speakers noted that robust identity systems are critical to enabling digital inclusion, improving governance, and supporting broader socio-economic development.
The ongoing conference continues to serve as a platform for collaboration among governments, development partners, and private sector actors working to advance secure and scalable digital identity solutions across Africa.
