Joseph Narbi was named Man of the Match after leading the Black Starlets to a 3-1 victory over South Africa national under-17 football team in their final Group D game of the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Black Starlets produced a strong performance in a crucial group-stage encounter, with Narbi scoring two first-half penalties to put Ghana in control of the match.

The midfielder converted his first penalty after Abdul Latif Wunzalgu was fouled inside the box following an attacking move by Ghana.

Narbi later added his second goal from the spot after another handball incident in the penalty area, calmly converting to double Ghana’s lead before halftime.

In addition to his two goals, the captain delivered a composed performance in midfield, providing leadership and control throughout the game.

Ghana secured the 3-1 victory after substitute Augustine Appiah scored the third goal following South Africa’s second-half response.

Narbi’s overall performance earned him recognition as the standout player of the match.

Despite the win, the Black Starlets narrowly missed out on second place in Group D after Algeria national under-17 football team advanced ahead of Ghana through the drawing of lots following identical records between the two sides.

Ghana, however, remains in contention for qualification to the FIFA U17 World Cup as the tournament continues.
