Gov't envisions 50k-capacity stadium as part of Borteyman sports city project to attract int'l investment

Government plans to build a 50,000-capacity stadium at the Borteyman Sports Complex, Accra, before 2028, the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has revealed.
He explained this was part of government's vision to transform the area into a modern sports city.
He observed Ghana lacked world-class sports infrastructure but assured President John Mahama's government was committed to making this a thing of the past.
“We are looking to have a new stadium of that size around our Borteyman Sports Complex. Because we want to elevate that whole space into a sports city or village so that international clubs can come and camp and train there,” Adams told Citi FM.
“With such a facility, we will also add accommodation. When this is done, in the future, you will not see accommodation for the Black Stars on the national budget. But we are working on a PPP arrangement.”
He added, “We want to do a minimum of 50,000 in the Borteyman space, and we should be able to finish it before 2028.”
