Mohammed Kudus will not join the Black Stars for their upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia, Class News understands.

The Tottenham Hotspur forward has chosen to remain with his club as he works on regaining full fitness and his best form.

Kudus was named in Carlos Queiroz’s 24-man squad for the qualifiers, but his decision has been communicated to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Black Stars coach.

The 26-year-old only recently returned to Premier League action after spending seven months out with a quad injury.

He came on at half-time in Tottenham’s 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday and provided the assist for Conor Gallagher’s 86th-minute goal.

That was his second appearance since returning from injury. He had earlier started Tottenham’s Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool, his first start since January.

Kudus suffered the injury in January and later had a setback in his recovery that required further specialist assessment.

The injury also kept him out of Ghana’s 2026 World Cup campaign.

His last appearance for the Black Stars was on October 12, 2025, when he scored the only goal in Ghana’s 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Comoros in Accra.

Ghana face Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on September 24 before hosting The Gambia on September 29. They will then play Morocco in an international friendly on October 4.

Kudus’ decision delays his return to the Black Stars as he continues his recovery with Tottenham.
