Former Black Stars winger Laryea Kingston has reaffirmed his readiness to serve Ghana’s national teams in a coaching capacity, stressing that any such role must be backed by a conducive and professional working environment.

During a interview with Sporty FM, the former Hearts of Oak star emphasised his unflagging commitment to Ghana, but highoeffective structures and support systems are essential for success.

“I’m a Ghanaian, and anytime the opportunity comes to coach any national team, I will,” Kingston stated.

“If the environment is conducive for me, I’ll take the offer,” he caveated.

Kingston’s comments come against the backdrop of his brief but eventful spell as head coach of the Black Starlets, a role he assumed in April 2024 ahead of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship hosted in Ghana. Under his leadership, the team reached the semifinals but suffered a 2–1 defeat to Burkina Faso, narrowly missing out on a place in the final.

In a move that surprised many, Kingston announced his resignation shortly after the loss, with very little explanation. The decision sparked conversations and highlighted broader issues surrounding technical support and administrative structures in Ghana’s youth football.

Since stepping away from the Black Starlets, Kingston has remained active in coaching, further strengthening his credentials on the international stage. He has worked in the United States and is currently responsible for Uganda’s junior national teams, a position that has deepened his experience in youth development and football administration.
