The University of Ghana Sports & Wellness Directorate hosted the 2026 PRUFunRide on Saturday 22nd August 2026 at Diaspora Halls (Lizalex Quadrangle) as several hundreds of cyclists descended on the campus for 30km fun ride.

The impressive turnout brought together a wide cross-section of riders, including professional cyclists, established cycling clubs, university students, corporate participants and individual cycling enthusiasts, all sharing the road in a celebration of cycling.

Several dignitaries, including Jane Mingle, CEO of Prudential Life Insurance Ghana, Kokui Bulley, Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer, Dr. Austin Luguterah, Director of Sports & Wellness Directorate, Horen Quashigah, representative of the minister, Nana Mankata, representative of the president of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Secretary General of the Ghana Cycling Federation, Mr. Shabban Mohammed and the Head of RITE Sports Services, Yaw Sakyi Afari took part in the ride. Their presence added significance to an event that has increasingly become a signature fixture on Ghana’s cycling calendar.

On the course, the ride lived up to its billing. Professional riders set the pace at the front of the field, while recreational riders, students, corporate participants and other cycling enthusiasts followed behind.

The strong turnout, coupled with the launch of a university cycling club, signals continued growth for PRURide and highlights the rising interest in cycling among young people and corporate communities.
