Real Madrid announce signing of Ghanaian defender Oscar Naasei
Real Madrid have announced the signing of Ghanaian defender Oscar Naasei Oppong on a three-year contract.
The 21-year-old centre-back joins from Spanish second-tier side Granada in a deal worth around 2 million euros.
Naasei has already completed his medical and will initially join Real Madrid Castilla, where he will continue his development and look to establish himself within the club’s system.
The agreement between Real Madrid and Granada was reached after the Spanish giants moved to secure the highly-rated defender, who had attracted interest from other clubs.
Naasei made his senior debut for Ghana in May, featuring in the Black Stars’ friendly against Mexico.
The Accra-born defender has made two appearances for Granada in the Segunda Division this season, continuing the progress he has made since joining the club in 2023.
Naasei progressed through Granada’s youth ranks before breaking into the first team and becoming a promising option in the senior squad.
His ability to play both centre-back and right-back has also added to his appeal.
The move to Real Madrid represents a major step in Naasei’s career, with the Ghanaian now tasked with continuing his development at Castilla and working towards eventually earning an opportunity with the club’s senior team.
