Semenyo scoops February EPL Player of the Month accolade
Antoine Semenyo has been named the February Player of the Month in the English Premier League (EPL), capping an impressive start to his career with Manchester City after completing a January move from AFC Bournemouth.
The Ghanaian forward made an immediate impact during the month, scoring three goals and registering one assist in five league matches. His goals came against Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham, and Leeds United, performances that helped him quickly establish himself in City’s attacking setup.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Semenyo described the recognition as a special moment early in his time at the Etihad.
“This is a brilliant moment for me. To win the Premier League Player of the Month award so soon after joining City is something I’ll never forget,” he said.
“My focus now is on continuing to improve and helping the team achieve the best results possible as the season moves toward its final stages.”
Semenyo’s adaptability has been a major factor in his early success. The forward has been deployed across multiple attacking roles, featuring on both flanks, in central positions, and occasionally leading the line. His versatility has added depth to the tactical options available to City manager Pep Guardiola.
The honour also ends a long wait for the club. Semenyo becomes the first City player other than Erling Haaland to win the monthly award since Raheem Sterling received it in December 2021. Haaland has dominated the accolade in recent months, claiming it four times this season, most recently in September.
The Ghana international topped a competitive six-player shortlist that featured Viktor Gyökeres of Arsenal, City teammate Nico O’Reilly, Dango Ouattara of Brentford, Benjamin Šeško of Manchester United, and Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool.
With the campaign entering a decisive period, Semenyo will be aiming to maintain his strong form as Manchester City continue their push for major honours in the closing months of the season.
