Former national team captain Asamoah Gyan believes the Black Stars possess the quality to perform well at the upcoming 2026 World Cup, though he noted that the squad's lack of experience could be a challenge.

Speaking to 3Sports, Gyan, who currently serves as the Brand Ambassador for Ghana’s national teams and Colts football, expressed confidence in the team's talent while highlighting his reservations.

“We have the tools. We have young players coming up. The experience is a bit dicey. As somebody who has been in the game, we will do everything, we will give our support,” Gyan said.

Ghana has been drawn into Group L for the tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama at BMO Field on June 17, followed by a match against England at Gillette Stadium on June 23, and their final group fixture against Croatia at Lincoln Financial Field on June 27. After group-stage exits in 2014 and 2022, the team aims to reach the knockout rounds for the first time since 2010.

In preparation for the tournament and an upcoming friendly against Wales next month, a 13-player contingent has already opened camp at Dragon Park in Cardiff. The initial group includes:

- Jordan Ayew

- Ernest Nuamah

- Brandon Thomas-Asante

- Caleb Yirenkyi

- Abdul Fatawu Issahaku

- Elisha Owusu

- Gideon Mensah

- Marvin Senaya

- Jerome Opoku

- Benjamin Asare

- Joseph Anang

- Solomon Agbasi

- Alidu Seidu

The remaining members of the 28-man provisional squad are expected to arrive in camp on Tuesday.
