A/R: Two mechanics remanded for allegedly beating man to death in Suame
The Suame District Court has remanded two mechanics, Awal Abu and Yusif Jyakator, for allegedly beating a 26-year-old man, Omar Osman, to death at Suame Kotoko in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti region.
The accused have been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and murder.
During the court session, the prosecutor requested that the accused be remanded to allow for further investigation and advice from the Attorney General.
Presiding Judge Emmanuel Mawuli Ekuna granted this request, remanding the accused to reappear on Tuesday, 30 July, 2024.
Their pleas were not taken.
The incident occurred on Thursday, 11 July, 2024, when the accused allegedly attacked Osman for allegedly stealing from their mechanic shop.
The attack left Osman with severe wounds, causing him to bleed profusely.
He was initially taken to the Suntreso Government Hospital for treatment and later referred to the Emergency Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where he was pronounced dead.
Following the incident, the accused were arrested and arraigned. Anatu Seidu, the elder sister of the deceased, spoke to ClassFM's Ashanti Regional Correspondent Elisha Adarkwah after the court proceedings, calling for justice for her brother.
